In the Woodlawn Community:

For the horse riders in the area, a ride to the to top of Betsy’s Ridge would be a great way to see the fall colors. Start at the parking area past Woodlawn Work Center and follow the Mountains-to-Sea Trail to the Toms Creek Road #1073, then to the trail up to Betsy’s Ridge. Then travel back down to the Lime Kiln Road #4049 to the Harris Creek Trail which is approximately 22 miles round trip.

In the Wilson Creek area:

The Wilson Ridge trail #269 into Maple- Sally Forest Road #187 in Avery County is about sixteen miles, one way. This is a nice long ride for the horse rider and a great way to seethe fall colors. For the mountain biker there is Wilson Ridge, trail #269, in Avery County. It is a fourteen-mile long ride and a great challenge for riders.
